The Office of the Law Revision Counsel prepares and publishes the United States Code, which is a consolidation and codification by subject matter of the general and permanent laws of the United States. The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is the codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government. There are 50 titles, each of which represents a broad subject area of Federal regulation. The CFR is updated once each calendar year and is issued on a quarterly basis.
